How it works

A Trust Request is a secure digital envelope shared between two people.

It's designed around one idea: prove who you are without handing over more than you meant to.

You don't have to verify yourself to send a Trust Request.

Want to know who you're meeting without sharing your own details? That's completely fine. You can send someone a Trust Request without verifying yourself. They choose what verified information they're comfortable sharing with you, and you remain in control of whether you verify or share anything in return.

Verifying yourself too is encouraged: a two-way exchange gives both people greater reassurance before you meet.

  1. 1. Create and send a Trust Request

Start a Trust Request in the app and send the link or code to the person you've been talking with. They don't need an account or an app download to respond.

  2. 2. Send it your way

Verify yourself first for a two-way exchange, or simply send a Trust Request without verifying yourself. Verification is encouraged, not required.

  3. 3. They choose how to verify

The person receiving it decides whether to take part and how to verify, Government ID, completed directly by Veriff, or Photos Verified, which matches a live selfie to their photos using Amazon Rekognition. Most people finish in about 90 seconds.

  4. 4. Choose what goes in the envelope

You decide exactly which details to include. Verifying does not share anything on its own, nothing leaves your side without your permission.

  5. 5. Open it and meet safely

Each person sees only what the other chose to share. Then meet, knowing the person is who they said they were.

Two ways to verify

Pick the level of proof that suits the situation.

Government ID verification

Handled end-to-end by Veriff, an accredited identity verification provider. Your document is never shared with the other person, and NoStrangers cannot view or access it, we only receive the verification result.

Photos Verified

A live selfie is matched against the photos you want to share, using Amazon Rekognition. It confirms the person in the photos is the person you'll meet, without involving identity documents.

  • No account and no app download for the person responding.
  • Verification is encouraged, not required, mutual verification gives both people more reassurance.
  • You approve every detail that goes into the envelope.
  • Guest Trust Requests are one-time only and securely deleted afterwards.
